Ski every day, in English!

Programs for Thursday, March 27 – Monday, March 31, 2025

Now is your chance to experience English in the outdoors. With English Adventure’s unique program, your child can test their body and mind and learn REAL English while experiencing the beautiful mountains of Niigata!

With enough snow, campers will ski every day! Try your hand at skiing while enjoying the beautiful mountain scenery of Tsunan, Niigata. If there is not enough snow for skiing, we will conduct popular camp activities.

The combination of fun activities and English is unique to English Adventure camps. Your child will enjoy speaking English and spending time with your friends in a new environment. It’s like a winter vacation overseas – without the plane ticket!

Campers will enjoy skiing in our private slope right by our lodge, from the afternoon of the day you arrive until the morning of the day you leave. That will give enough time for even beginners to enjoy and love skiing! Of course, experienced skiers will be able to further improve their skills.

We separate lessons depending on your child’s skiing ability. For example, beginner lessons will start with how to put on ski boots and use equipment. More experienced skiers will be able to learn various skills to better their skiing ability.

Ski Level Definitions

[Beginner: 0-5 times of experience] For campers who have never skied before to campers who are just learning to ski! We will teach all the basics, from putting on boots and using ski lifts to safely making their way down the hill while being guided by their instructor.

[Intermediate: 5-10 times of experience] This level is for children who have been skiing enough to be able to confidently make their way down the hill on their own. They can stop with their skis parallel to each other, and have full control of their movement up to a certain speed.

[Advanced: 10+ times of experience] This level is for children who have skied many times. They have full confidence skiing on advanced ski courses.

In Case of No Skiing

1. EA summer camp vibes but with new and unique, Winter, activities:
High up in the mountains of Tsunan, we usually have snow at this time of the year. If we aren’t able to ski, there will most likely be enough snow to enjoy some snow related activities. From Sledding, hiking, walking on snow through the forest and forest games like you have never seen before. To, electives like, bouldering, gaga, English games, and team building games.

2. Team building:
Getting to make new friends and rekindling old friendships. This camp will focus on team building and learning to build relationships with campers from all over Japan. With previous winter camps, many campers are repeaters and rekindling old friendships is a unique part of the magic of winter camp. First time campers also reap the benefits of having repeater campers at camp as the support and show how much fun camp can be by leading and guiding new campers.

3. Amazing, international staff:
All of our Immersion Staff staff are native level English speakers, so campers will be exposed to English all day, every day. This is a unique opportunity to communicate and spend time with staff from all over the world in a fully immersive 100% English environment.

Q&A

Q. Can I ski at this camp?

A. We plan to have skiing during the Spring Break English Camp, but it will depend on the weather. In addition, there must be sufficient snowfall for safe skiing. We have a number of alternative outdoor activities that can be arranged depending on the conditions (please ask questions about these activities below). (See also questions about activities below).

Q. When will we know if the skiing will take place?

A. One week prior to the start of the camp, we will inform you of the conditions at the camp site and whether or not skiing is allowed. We will try to give you as accurate a schedule as possible based on the conditions and weather forecast at that time. Even if we say "skiing is possible" one week before camp, we may cancel skiing for safety reasons if conditions change after that.

Q. If I can't ski, will the camp still run?

A. The camp will run regardless of whether skiing is available or not! In case there is not enough snow for skiing, we offer many alternative outdoor activities. In case there is not enough snow for skiing, we have plenty of alternative outdoor activities to choose from to make your child's camp experience one they will remember forever. If there is lingering snow, they can play in the snow, and even if there is no snow, they can enjoy the great outdoors! Either way, your child will enjoy a camp experience like no other.

Q. If I can't ski, what happens to the activities?

A. If skiing is not an option, we offer many alternative activities to stimulate your child's curiosity!
Examples of activities:
・Scavenger Hunt: team bonding while exploring the wilderness
・Erectivities: gaga, rock climbing. Warwolves, snow play, etc.
・Winter Forest Games: a variety of fun games in a snowy setting
・Minute to Win It: a fun challenge that will test your spontaneous energy!

Much more than the above! Team building, English, plenty of outdoor activities, every day is different and fun. No two days are ever the same!

Q. If I cannot ski, what will be the cost of ski set/ski wear rental?

A. If you do not ski, we will refund all rental fees paid. However, if you do not ski, but play in the snow, you may use ski wear.
