2003 - The Beginning of an Adventure<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t

In 2003, we held our first “English Adventure Summer Camp”. Eighty Japanese children, so-called returnee children, participated. (It seemed like a very large group at the time!) Our goal with this camp was not only to get city kids out into nature. It was also about providing a place where children with English ability, diversity, and different backgrounds could be accepted and be themselves. At the time, such an environment was much rarer than it is today.<\/p>\n

Later, as word of English Adventure spread, we began to receive many requests to accept children who were not yet fluent in English. So we began to offer “English Immersion” (native or near-native level; the current “English Challenge” program for returnees and native English speakers) and “English Challenge” (a program for children who are not yet fluent in English). We decided to create two programs, “English Immersion” (for returnees and native English speakers, the current “returnee\/native English program”) and “English Challenge” (for those still learning English), to provide a unique experience combining “live English” and outdoor adventures that can only be found here.<\/p>\n

Twenty years later, English Adventure has become the largest overnight English camp program in Japan, welcoming over 2,000 campers each year. However, our focus has always been and remains the same: providing attentive support to each camper. Our goal is to help them grow as human beings and share the skills and mindsets they need to succeed in a global society. Most importantly, we value spending lots of fun time together in the outdoors!<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

English Adventure aims to support the development of young people through camping and English-based outdoor education programs.<\/p>\n
